Melissa Balding

Manager, Market Development

About

Melissa joined BCI’s Seattle office in 2021 as a Market Development Manager. Melissa assists with writing and administering grants related to the United States Department of Agriculture’s export assistance programs and works with clients to develop and implement their organization’s international promotional activities.

Prior to BCI, Melissa worked for the Washington State Farmers Market Association (WSFMA), a non-profit association that works with over 110 member farmers markets. At the WSFMA, she was responsible for marketing activities, grant and contract management, and ad-hoc research projects.

Melissa graduated from Hamilton College with a degree in Environmental studies and obtained master’s degree in Germany from the Technical University of Munich. While in graduate school Melissa focused on agricultural economics and policy and was a research assistant for the European Institute of Innovation and Technology project on vertical farming.
