Eva Chappell joined BCI’s Research and Information Services team Seattle in October 2021 and was promoted to manager in 2024. She brings to the team a strong professional background in the agri-food sector that includes applied agricultural economics, work with emerging market value chains, and knowledge of European Union (EU) policies.
Eva contributes to market and regulatory research projects, economic and statistical analyses, and to the BCI Monitor, a customized regulatory newsletter for BCI clients.
Before joining BCI, Eva worked for the European Investment Bank (EIB), the lending arm of the EU. Here she performed market research and investment due diligence for projects spanning the full agri-food value chain, primarily in the EU and Sub-Saharan Africa . She also worked together with the International Food Policy Research Institute (IFPRI), evaluating agricultural policy processes, in particular the Comprehensive Africa Agriculture Development Policy Programme (CAADP).
Eva holds a Ph.D. in Agricultural Economics with specialization in Political Economy, an MSc in Agriculture Economics, and a BSc in Agricultural Economics and Agribusiness, all from Kiel University, Germany. As a post-doctoral researcher, she published a book, together with Christian Henning (Kiel University) and Ousmane Badiane (IFPRI), about development policies and policy processes in Africa. She has lived in Germany, Luxembourg, and Washington DC.
